December 2011 saw the inaugeration of the Marburg School Based Youth Awards. The Residents’ Association has created these awards to showcase senior students at Marburg State School. There are three categories to be awarded annually: Achievement, Citizenship and Encouragement. MDRA President Greg Farr and Secretary, Wendye Gratton, attended the school awards night to hand awards to Jacob Day for Achievement, Isabella Ostini for Citizenship and Naomi Schulz for Encouragement. The MDRA will work with Marburg State School on an annual basis to make these awards. Awards consisted of a medallion, $50 bursary and the students’ names to be engraved on a trophy that has been presented to the school.
