“Poets in the Park”
The dogs are barking that Marburg is the place to be on Saturday 14th June with Poets in the Park in the a.m. and Pacing at the Marburg Show Grounds in the p.m.
Begin the day with a breakfast in the Marburg Community Park while being entertained by bush poets rhyming their tall stories.
“Professor of Poetical Parlance”, Denleigh Stenzel, along with a group of fellow poets will be entertain you on the slab. He and a number of his fellow poets are regular performers at this annual event, some having been associated with it since its inception in 2007 as part of the Black Snake Creek Festival.
Conducted by the Marburg and District Residents Association and the Black Snake Creek Festival Committee, Poets in the Park is today a major lead-up to the Festival itself which will again bring Marburg to life on the second weekend in October. Poets in the Park remains a Festival event, reminding everyone of the forthcoming season and whetting the public appetite for the Festival in October.
As well as performances by established poets whose feet are firmly in the Oz-bush / ballad genre, Denleigh is making a call for walk up poets and reciters of poems to put their name forward. He and the Black Snake Creek Festival Committee have a special interest in encouraging young performers to step up and have a go. Budding poets and those who have been performing privately for friends and relations up till now and who are interested in taking up this prized opportunity to perform publicly are asked to phone Greg on 0428-328-930.
Poets in the Park includes a hearty and tasty breakfast prepared by the Marburg State School P&C Association. Tickets are available from the Marburg Post Office – phone 5464-4280.
Please see advertisement for Poets in the Park in the Moreton Border News.
Check your Gatton Star for the Pacing program to be conducted in the afternoon of 14th June by the Marburg Pacing Association.
